Apart From Naturist Clubs, How Do I Meet Local Naturists?

At FKK, we hear this question fairly frequently. This isn't astonishing. There are naturists spread out throughout the U.S., and not everyone has a naked beach or nudist resort or club nearby. Even if they do, some can't afford to join their local naturist club or do not have the transport to get there.
So, how else does one meet other local nudist individuals or unclothed-friendly groups?
We have some thoughts to share for connecting with fellow nudists both online and off line.
Meeting Nudists Offline
Examples of alternative nudie surroundings:
- Swimming holes or spots in nature that have a convention of skinny dipping, such as ponds, rivers and lakes in national parks or woods. The site swimmingholes.org has a comprehensive list of swimming holes all over the nation (though we do not know how frequently it gets updated). It's both textile and naked areas, so seek out the ones specifically noted to have a skinny dipping tradition. Keep in mind the people who frequent these areas don't always call themselves naturists. Since these areas are usually free and open to the general public, they attract all sorts of individuals. But if other people are there skinny dipping, you clearly have a common interest!
- If you're into yoga, then have a look at your local naked yoga courses. Many times bare yoga educators will sponsor classes in a local studio and not at a nearby naturist club. These courses can form a community when precisely the same individuals return week after week.
- Naked health spas. These kinds of places are probably the least conducive to meeting folks. They're usually sex-segregated and lots of people are only there to relax and unwind never to make friends. But if the vibe is appropriate, it can still be a place to meet like-minded individuals.
How exactly to meet nudists & make nudie pals
- Local naked-friendly occasions, such as the World Naked Bike Ride, bare runs / parades like in San Francisco, local Burning Man events, etc. These are not naturist events, but they do attract nudies and individuals who are open to naturist activities.

How you can meet nudist folks there: I know it can be intimidating to approach strangers, even though you're both nude and enjoying the same actions. It appears to be especially challenging for single men, who are, regrettably, most commonly guess before they even say a word.
Being with a buddy can make the experience more relaxing and enjoyable. It may give you more confidence and even give you more legitimacy in terms of how others see you. (Hate to say sources deal with central features of their cultures: , but if you're a man, a girl will probably be more open to speaking to you if you are followed by a female buddy.)
Should youn't have a friend to accompany you to a nudie spot, (because duh, that's why you're going there to begin with), attempt looking for an excuse to start a dialog with others you can ask someone to shoot your image (without getting others in the backdrop of course), or see if they are a regular there and ask them a few questions about the region. If dialogue is strained or they certainly desire to be left alone, it's best to politely end the conversation and move ahead.
